Reading Food Pantry FAQs

  • Where is the Reading Food Pantry? We are located at 6 Salem Street and our door is in the back parking lot of the Old South United Methodist Church.

  • When is the food pantry open? The Reading Food Pantry is open to serve neighbors Mondays from 6:30-7:30pm, and Fridays from 10:30-11:30am.

  • Is there a waiting period to use the pantry? There is no waiting period to visit the pantry, you will receive food on your first visit. 

  • How do I know if I’m eligible? Do I need to sign up to use the food pantry? If you are a Reading resident and need help with food, you are eligible. No sign up or registration is required.

  • How to help? It’s easy to donate to the Reading Food Pantry online via PayPal or Venmo: https://www.readingfoodpantry.org/donate

  • Most helpful donation at this time? Grocery store gift cards are extremely helpful to the Pantry at this time. 

  • Want to buy and donate locally? The Pantry accepts donations every Wednesday from 4:30pm-6:00pm. There are bins at Market Basket and Stop & Shop in Reading to drop off food and non-perishable donations.

As a result of the federal government shutdown, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the funding that powers this benefit are currently uncertain. As such, please see the resources in the link below for those who may have their SNAP funds impacted by the shutdown, and how residents can help support local resources for neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
